Zimmelman’s is the oldest shop in town, but Yossi Dina’s is the only one with no lending limit; he averages $200,000 a customer. “I’m interested in anything beautiful,” says Dina, surveying his inventory of Tiffany, Cartier and Bulgari. Dina never asks why he’s needed, but he hears anyway: he’s raised cash for films, to get in on an IPO and to help a socialite make bail. Besides his pawned goods, which are confidential, Dina collects jewels and Hollywood memorabilia for himself, and for lending to stars and studios. Jean Zimmelman, too, has enjoyed her life amid the glamorous. “My father knew more than one princess,” she says, “and I always thought I was a princess.”
